Romantic Suspense at its finest. This book is the fourth and final installment of Dani Pettrey's Chesapeake Valor series. This is Luke and Kate's story. But it is also a dual story because Griffin and Finley are working on Jenna's cold case murder. So, it definitely is a page turner with clues and leads and twists. I am a huge fan of this author and have read all of her books. I give this book 4 and a 1/2 stars. *I was given this book by the publisher Baker Publishing via netgalley. I loved that two loose ends were resolved in the conclusion of the Chesapeake Valor Series. Of the two threads in this novel, my interest was only with the cold case and I kept wanting to get back to that part of the novel. Overall, a solid suspense series. I look forward to what the author has next in store for her readers.

What a stunning conclusion to the Chesapeake Valor series! This is a book that definitely needs to be read in order, as book four of a series that builds upon itself. It was thrilling to return to these wonderful characters as I read Dead Drift. Now, I want to go back and read all four books back to back and catch anything I might have missed the first time around. They really are so good! Dead Drift was especially touching as it was a “return of a lost love” storyline. Kate and Luke were in love in college and then he disappeared. Now Luke is back and there are some hurts that will be hard to overcome. I thought the author did a great job of showing two people who still loved each other, yet had to battle against the resulting heartache that came from Luke’s long ago decision. Dead Drift not only had great romantic tension, it also had lots of action taking place in two different storylines. One team was working to diffuse the imminent threat to the nation that brought Luke back into Kate’s life. The other plot involved closing the loop on the ongoing storyline that linked all four books together and involved a serial killer who preyed on young women for years. This book and entire series is one that I highly recommend for fans of romantic suspense! I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own. "We are facing our fiercest biological warfare terrorist threat on American soil yet." Dani Pettrey hits the ground running in this 4th book in her Chesapeake Valor series and ends it on a terrifying race for the good. I have been her face since her very first book and this one only cemented that decision. I read it in one day. I have been her face since her very first book and this one only cemented that decision. I read it in one day. For seven years, CIA operative Luke Gallagher has been away from his friends who trusted him, including Kate, whom he loved. Not a word have they heard in all those years. He has been part of an elite team to capture a deadly terrorist. Now, Luke's friends, all in law enforcement to some degree, hold the only hope of stopping the latest threat of an attack that could shake the USA to the very core. Kate Maxwell never has stopped loving Luke and now that he's back, she is angry at him and afraid to trust him again, even though she wishes she could. She never thought he left her by choice, either. He's back now and she must search her heart to see if she can forgive Luke and move on to a future with him. If they don't die first. Pettrey is in absolute top form here. I have been waiting on tenterhooks for Luke and Kate's story. She builds up the action in each book, even while dealing with other members of the group and their own story, always hinting at Luke and his life. She also solves one mystery that has been around since the first book and does it very well. I was racing along with the action, gasping many times at the events unfolding herein. One thing I really liked here was how she shows the incredible and enduring love the men in this group have for the women in their lives. It was very, very moving and very realistic. Her characters always are. I am a forever fan. I highly recommend this one. Now...I can eagerly anticipating the next series Dani Pettrey has in store for her readers. *My thanks to the publishers through Net Galley for a copy of this book. Dead Drift is the suspense-filled and satisfying conclusion to Pettrey's Chesapeake Valor Series. If you've been keeping up with the series, then I'm sure you are anxious to read about Luke and Katie's reunion. Will Luke be able to fan the flames of their college love back to life? Have the embers gone cold? Furthermore, will he finally catch Ebeid--the mission that drew him away from Katie some eight years ago? In true Pettrey style, no story is over just because it was highlighted in a book earlier in the series. I've relished reading how Griffin and Finley, Declan and Tanner, and Parker and Avery's relationships have matured through each book. I also loved the bombshell Pettrey drops in book four; because it drew an interesting connection between Tanner and Luke. If you haven't started this series, you could pick it up here, but I highly encourage you to go back to the beginning! Otherwise, you'll miss out on the rich family-like feel and camaraderie the author develops among the characters. Not to mention, you'd be cheating yourself out of the epic build-up to this memorable finale. Dead Drift is the thrilling fourth (and sadly last) book in the Chesapeake Valor series by Dani Pettrey. Dead Drift concludes the series in stunning style, with touching romance, non-stop action and life and death tension that will keep you guessing and hanging on the edge of your seat. Dead Drift concludes the series in stunning style, with touching romance, non-stop action and life and death tension that will keep you guessing and hanging on the edge of your seat. Kate has always believed -hoped- that the love of her life, Luke Gallagher was alive and out there somewhere. Meanwhile, Luke has spent the last seven years with one mission - bring a major criminal and terrorist to justice and finally return home to Kate. Now, Kate knows Luke is alive, but his being back in her life and the lives of their friends threatens them all. Luke and Kate must team up as the terrorist threat to US soil increases and overlaps with FBI Agent Declan Grey’s case. As danger looms ever closer, Luke, Kate and the whole gang will have to push harder than ever before to find answers and justice. The Chesapeake Valor series has so far brought this loveable group of friends through heartache, murder cases, near-death experiences and ever closer to the answers they seek about what happened to their friends, Luke and Jenna, so many years ago. The threads of mystery that have woven throughout the entire series all start to weave together in this final book. The action starts from the first page and literally doesn’t stop. While most of the gang work with Luke to prevent a bioterrist attack and bring to justice the man Luke has been chasing these past seven years, Finley and Griffin work to solve the cold case of Jenna, Griffin’s sister, who was murdered eight years ago. While the terrorist case brings non-stop action and big dramatic scenes, I enjoyed the detective legwork that Griffin and Finley engage in to bring a serial killer to justice. The story jumps perspective between a number of the main characters, predominately Luke, Kate and Griffin, which enables the readers to stay fully immersed in the enfolding action. Of course, Dani Pettrey leaves one perspective just when major intel is about to be revealed or a character’s life hangs in the balance, only increasing the already high suspense and making Dead Drift impossible to put down. I have really loved the Chesapeake Valor series and Dead Drift is the perfect conclusion. It celebrates the friendship this talented group share, and their dedication to finding justice. I enjoyed Kate and Luke’s story of reunion and the opportunity they have to rekindle their romance. There are a lot of pent up emotions surrounding anger, passion, grief and betrayal they must work through while juggling the enfolding case and constant attempts on their lives. There is no doubting their connection, and the sweet moments of competition and trust they share are very enjoyable. I also loved the celebration in Dead Drift of each of the other romantic relationships that have been forged throughout the series. I loved Griffin and Finley’s support for one another as they face the difficult task of finding Jenna’s killer, and their enjoyment of married life, and treasured the moments of new-found closeness between Tanner and Declan. Avery and Parker take more of a backseat, but their relationship and the conclusion of Parker’s history with Jenna are also wonderful parts of this story. If you have not yet read the Chesapeake Valor series, I highly recommend it. I can’t wait to devour Dani Pettrey’s next series which is sure to be just as brilliantly written, engaging and loveable as this one has been. "Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened." Dr. Seuss I think this quote perfectly sums up my feelings about this series ending. Dani's books always knock my socks off, but Dead Drift takes the awesomeness to a whole new level. My old friends Griffin & Finley, Parker & Avery, Declan & Tanner, and Luke & Kate grabbed hold of me and yanked me through the screen of my Kindle and into their story, and it didn't take long before I forgot I was reading and instead felt that I was tagging along and living their story right alongside them, that is how fabulous this book is! Once again Dani's writing thrilled me, chilled me, and inspired me, at the same time it encouraged and challenged my faith, and made a lasting imprint on my heart! I don't really know what else I can say without risking spoilers, so I will finish with this: I absolutely adored every single moment I spent reading this book, everything was tied up perfectly, and even though I hated to see it end, when I turned the final page a sigh of pure contentment escaped my lips which were temporarily frozen in the giddiest grin of all time! Dead Drift is on my list of favorite reads of 2018, and I highly recommend it! Everyone should read the Chesapeake Valor series, each book can stand alone but they are best read in order to get the full amazing experience! I simply cannot wait for Dani's next book! READ DANI PETTREY'S BOOKS, YOU WON'T BE SORRY! Now, if you'll excuse me! *Goes to reread Submerged yet again* Thank you to the author and publisher for sending me a copy of this book to help promote it. This is a fast-paced, gripping, and intense book, the conclusion of the Chesapeake Valor series that follows a group of friends that serve in various fields of criminal justice. I was so excited to read Kate and Luke's story, especially since he's been such a mystery from the beginning. This is a series that I think is best read in order, but honestly you could still read Dead Drift on its own and be fine. I appreciate that the author catches the reader up with the characters and their relationships without info-dumping the plots of the previous books, so even if you read this book first, you can still go back and enjoy the stories of the other friends in the previous three books (which are all excellent!) I loved learning more about Luke and Kate's relationship from when they were together before his prolonged absence courtesy of the CIA. It showed why they never gave up on each other and made their reunion that much sweeter- after Kate gave him heck to pay, of course ;) The highly dangerous cases they are working on solving and attacks they are trying to prevent bring them closer together, and also heighten the fears they have of losing each other again. They have issues to work out and also get to know each other again as the changes people they have become- although the important things haven't changed. They have amazing chemistry, and I also loved the deeper ways they connect, through their faith and supporting each other. Besides the terrorist case Luke is leading, Griffin and Finley are following up clues from his sister Jenna's murder, and the two plots woven together create a nice balance and kept the pace cracking along, making the book impossible to put down. With twists and turns along the way and dramatic, nail-biting climaxes, the story wraps up with satisfying conclusions for this group of friends that have become tight-knit and stalwart once again. Highly recommend this book and the entire series! (I received a complimentary copy of the book; all opinions expressed in this review are my own)

Now he was being called in from the field as a consultant; assisting local and federal law enforcement agencies in their quest to thwart a highly orchestrated chemical warfare attack on the United States. Had "crushing her heart" built an impenetrable wall or could they live to see new dreams come true? "Barn. Leader. Agent. Handcuffed. Glock. Wrists. Message." Griffin McCray's sister had been murdered as a teenager; now Griffin and his wife Finley were on personal leave from their perspective agencies to see if they could unravel any new clues about the person they believed to be a serial killer. The detective who left the mystifying seven words in his file was now dead, and no one else seemed inclined to consider the accumulation of cold cases as the work of one very demented individual. Using the many details of both scenarios to her advantage, the author deftly plays the story lines in perfect harmony; keeping her readers on their edge of their seat in just the right places, while warming their hearts with tender moments between beloved characters, managing to close out this series on a very high note.

This book definitely was one of my most anticipated reads of 2018 because of the jaw-dropping-cliff-hanger in the last book, Blind Spot. I was so excited when this book dropped, so my long-awaited questions involving Kate and Luke could finally be answered, and let me tell you, I was not disappointed! (cheers) Luke has definitely been the friend missing in action in this series. But when Kate, Declan, Parker and Griffin learn he's been part of an CIA-black-ops team with moves that can rival Jason Bourne, they are shocked to say the least. But when Luke's assignment causes him to enlist the help of his friends to track a deadly terrorist back at his hometown, things not only get complicated but crazy dangerous for all involved. Kate has been one of my favorite characters throughout this series. I love how she's strong and straight-to-the-point, and she had a determination that would not quit! Dani Pettrey did an amazing job of displaying the vacillating emotions of joy and pain in Luke and Kate's reunion. Y'all the chemistry between Luke and Kate was just crackling of the pages! There were plenty of surprises and twists in the story. I had a hard time putting this book down. Eventhough I totally wanted to be mad at Luke, I found myself rooting for him and Kate. This story also focuses on Griffin finally getting the information needed to help track down his sister's killer. The chase that he and Avery went on added a thriller element to the plot that left me on the edge of my seat every minute. I will miss this series so much! I really like this group of friends, but all good books must come to a end! ;-) **I would love to see a spin off series based on Charm City Investigations, there are few storylines I think would make excellent book series. I am thrilled that this is the way that Pettrey has chosen to end the Chesapeake Valor series. Luke Gallagher has finally come home and he and Kate Maxwell are being given a chance to sort out their feelings and resolve some of the issues that two people will have experienced after being separated for seven years. This final book also allows the other characters from the previous three books the chance to deal with Luke's return. All of them have developed close bonds with each other and their relationships are allowed to play out as they work together to capture a deadly terrorist. Dani Pettrey possesses a real talent in creating memorable characters and creating realistic interaction among these characters and this is especially true with Luke and Kate. Kate is reluctant to lose her heart again and continues to resist Luke's efforts to repair their relationship. I love how he "courts" Kate with heartfelt words. "And it will take the rest of our lives for me to make things right, but please, Katie, give me the chance. I'm only asking for the chance." (p. 214) She also pens some powerful prayers that allow Luke to show his Christian beliefs. "Thank you, Lord, for your patience with me, for never ceasing to love me. Please equip me to serve you wholly. I pray I make it through this mission, and that I get to spend my life at Kate's side. Amen." (p. 219) Dead Drift is the fourth and final book of Pettrey's Chesapeake Valor series but she has offered enough background in it to keep readers from being lost if this is the first one they have read. The other books don't have to be read but they certainly deserve to be! Dead Drift is filled with danger, adventure, conspiracies and nail-biting escapades but most of all, it has an abundance of love, hope, and the reminder that we all are promised God's love, we are all worthy of forgiveness and we all can experience His Grace and forgiveness! I received a copy of this title via NetGalley. It does not impact my review. I’ve really enjoyed Dani Pettrey’s Chesapeake Valor series and I thought Dead Drift was a great conclusion. The secondary mystery circled back to an on-going investigation from the first book and the killer of Griffin’s little sister was finally revealed. I thought the mixture of the urgency and the emotional were balanced much better here than in the previous book, which was probably my least favorite of the series. I really liked Luke. I was excited for him to finally take a central role and he didn’t disappoint. I would’ve loved to hear a little more of his time away, but I thought the reasons for his disappearance and silence for seven years was well explained, as well as how he felt about it. I liked Kate more than I thought I would, but she’s definitely not my favorite female lead of the series. I loved seeing the whole gang all together. They are a very likable group and I will miss reading about them. I only have two real complaints. I didn’t like that we didn’t get very much time with Parker and Avery at all. All the other characters got a good amount of page time, but I didn’t feel like they were very present which disappointed me because they’re my favorite couple of the series. I also didn’t like that there’s a really big moment in the conclusion of the terrorism plot line that was just mentioned after the fact instead of being able to experience it with the characters. I thought Pettrey did a really good job with the all the action scenes up to that point and would have liked to have seen that important moment. Overall, I really enjoyed Dead Drift. I thought the mysteries were intriguing and I really liked getting Luke’s POV. As always, I thought Pettrey did a good job with the Christian elements of the story. It’s never preachy, but just an organic part of the characters’ lives. I’m really going to miss these characters and look forward to the author’s next series. Overall Rating (out of 5): 4 Stars

From the first book in Dani Pettrey’s Chesapeake Valor series, there have been two unanswered questions: Is Luke alive? And what happened to Griffin’s sister? All that while keeping the woman he’s never stopped loving safe. I’ve said this before, but it’s worth saying again if you’ve not yet enjoyed a Pettrey book. Each one is much like watching one of the first season episodes of 24 where pieces of the big picture puzzle are dropped into place. I have eagerly anticipated this story since the first book in the series. Kate and Luke’s story has been a thread through each of the books, gaining momentum with each successive one, and I was so excited when they finally got their own book. All the questions of why Luke disappeared and what he’s been doing were answered, as well as a loose thread that had been hanging from the first book about Griffin McCray’s sister. So very satisfactory. This book followed along in the same style I’ve come to expect and enjoy from Dani Pettrey…didn’t want to put it down! The characters were well done, and Kate is one of my favorites! It’s always great to follow the stories of those from the previous books as well, and see the developing relationships. The spiritual content was also good. Kate and Luke spoke of their relationship with Jesus Christ throughout, and prayed for guidance. Luke acknowledged that his relationship with the Lord had suffered through the years, but I appreciated that he recognized and repented of his wrong actions. I only have a couple disclaimers to make. First of all, there’s a scene where two of the characters go to a tattoo parlor and get tattoos for the sake of making a necessary contact. I was disappointed because it was talked about as a very positive thing and something one of them had been wanting for a long time. There was quite a bit of romance, kissing, etc. and throughout the books, the two main characters will often stay in the same house and sometimes the same hotel room, even though they never sleep together. Not a very good testimony, in my opinion. Lastly, there was another almost-torture-scene in this book that had me shuddering! It involved a lady in this case, and though nothing bad was happened, it was certainly hinted at. Overall, I would still rate this 4 out of 5 stars! An thrilling conclusion to a great series! *Disclaimer: I received this ebook from Bethany House Publishers via Netgalley in exchange for my honest review.

Dead Drift is the fabulous fourth addition to Dani Pettrey’s series, Chesapeake Valor. This one is probably my favorite of the series. Kate and Luke finds themselves in quite a bit of action, adventure, danger, mystery, suspense and romance. What a perfect combination for me in a read. I give Dead Drift a well deserved 5 stars. I’m sad to say goodbye to this series, but look forward to what Dani Pettrey comes up with next. Can not wait! A great and fast paced conclusion to this series, and yes we do wrap things up, but maybe not how you thought. If you haven’t read the other books in this series, this one will make you want to, but you can read alone, enough facts are presented. The author gives us some surprises, but boy the book sure doesn’t lack for action and keeps you guessing as to whom will survive to the very end. There are some very sad moments here, and most you will not see or expect. Great job! Love love and love!! Love never fails, no matter what we've done in the past or present, it gives us hope for the future. That we are not defined by the choices that we've made, no matter the reason we may have made them. Love sees beyond to who are really are and what we can be, scars and all. Love is deeper than any regrets we could ever have because it's stronger than the shame and guilt we may be feeling. It bears all things, all the time.

Excellent conclusion to the Chesapeake Valor series. This is like two stories in one--the culmination of the search for Jenna's kidnapper/murderer, and the search for the terrorist who wants to destroy the US. I liked how all of the storylines wrapped up, and loved the swoon-worthy romance. This entire series has been an excellent balance of action, adventure, romance, and a bit of suspense. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book, all opinions are my own.

Dani Pettrey has crafted an explosive (literally an explosion on the first page) and quite enjoyable finale to her Chesapeake Valor series. It kept me spellbound and engaged the whole way through as she weaved satisfying conclusions to both the cold case murder of Griff's sister and the terrorist threat that the team has been chasing through out the series. I loved the interactions of Kate and Luke and the ending wrapped everything up nicely. I continuously say that I hate reading series out of order...yet I find myself doing it again and again. 😷 That was the case with this book. 'Dead Drift' is book FOUR in a series...and I grabbed it before I read any of the other books. That being said...MAN THIS BOOK WAS GREAT! There were a *few* spots were reading books 1-3 would definitely have come in handy, but I honestly didn't feel like I missed out on a ton. Who knows maybe I did, but just don't know it. I didn't feel a huge disconnect. I I continuously say that I hate reading series out of order...yet I find myself doing it again and again. 😷 That was the case with this book. I didn't feel a huge disconnect. I really enjoyed Luke and Kate's relationship. Since they had dated before they did have their moments of butting heads, but I loved them all the more for it. Every character in this book (series as a whole I'm guessing?) had SUCH an amazing walk with God. He was the first person they turned to when life got tough, or too much to handle. Not only were their relationships with God strong, but their relationships with each other. Even though Luke had been gone for 7 years they all just flowed nicely together. Yes I read the series out of order... 😔😖 That doesn't mean I didn't get anything out of the story. I LOVE stories of friends and big families, this is everything I'm looking for. THIS BOOK got me SO excited to backtrack and read the series...the RIGHT way! The action was great, Dani kept me guessing. AND I loved the little emotional side-trip we took...it was beautifully done. I seriously enjoyed Dani's writing style, and the "family" she created. I rated this a 4.5/5 stars. *I received this book in exchange for my honest review**I was not required to post a positive review**All opinions are my own*

It has been much too long since I've read a Dani Pettry story! I'd forgotten just how amazingly good she is at keeping me on the edge of my seat. From each nail-biting moment to the next, I was anxious for the good guys to win. Which I was in no doubt of! But still. With my heart in my throat, I'd push on to the next chapter full of anxiety and hope. Because that's what so much of this story is full of! No matter what terror may be happening on the page, hope permeates every paragraph. Even having not read every book in the series prior to reading this final one, I found myself fascinated with the frienships that make up the story. This is undoubtedly Luke and Kate's journey, yes, but all the characters get to have their moment. Character relationships is where Ms. Pettrey's writing truly shines, in my opinion. I love the way they all take care of each other and the love that flows through every interaction (both frustrating or not, because goodness knows they can frustrate each other! ;). More than friends, they've become a family of sorts. Whip-smart, always-willing-to-go-into-danger-for-each-other-no-matter-what type of family! The intriguing push and pull of the romance in this one is, naturally, a favorite of mine. Luke and Kate's fractured history makes for disappointment, irritation, and constant chemistry-laden interaction! Forced to deal with all the secrets and the unsaid things hovering under the surface of their conversations, they both struggle to work through their emotions. At times I wanted to shake them, at others I wanted to hug them! The way they clearly love each other, but deny it for all their worth, just made me all the more anxious for their eventual reconciliation. Yet I could understand all the hurt that they had to let go of, which wasn't easy. I loved watching them slowly open up to one another again! So that by the time the real sweetness between them arrived...ah my heart! With just enough tension to keep her readers on their toes, yet enough hope for the future, Ms. Pettrey pens a story like no other! I was completely invested from the first pages until the last and quite happy to get my just reward (especially the chance to finally relax! ;). I'm now planning to go back and read the rest of the series. And soon, I hope! Because after seeing where so many of the characters end up, I quite want to find out how they got there. It's a keeper, friends! As any Dani Pettrey book always is. **I received a complimentary copy via Bethany House. All opinions expressed are my own.

Luke finally gets his book!!!!! I cannot tell you how wonderful it was to finally get his story. Also, if you've been reading the whole series then you'll be glad to know this book brings excellent closure to the series (even though I'm terribly sad to say goodbye to these characters!). This book truly has everything! It has great characters, adventure, mystery, crime solving, and my favorite: romance! This group of friends have made for amazing characters and I loved getting to know a little bit more in each book. But I definitely love Luke because I knew the least about him. His character was quite impressive. He's been through a lot and still stayed so grounded. And I loved how dedicated he was to both his mission but also to Kate. I'll admit that if I was Kate I probably wouldn't have come around as quickly as she did to his return but at the same time, I'm glad she did. I really liked how dedicated all of the characters in these books have been spiritual. I love how they pray together and for each other. I love how they rely on God and not just themselves, even though they are quite impressive in their careers. Ever since the first book I've been anxious to see how things would wrap up. Pettrey has so much skill for drawing her readers in and keeping us engaged over the whole series. This book wrapped up every loose end without feeling like a major catch-all for all the dangling pieces. I really liked how it was basically two stories in one. One story was Luke and Kate and the other was the culmination of the series. Another part I really love about this series is how well all the characters work together. Especially the characters involved romantically. I love my husband dearly but I cannot imagine working so closely with him every day. I would especially recommend this book to anyone that likes CSI or Cold Case or Criminal Minds. It isn't near as gory as any of those shows but contains elements from all of them. I enjoy watching TV but I'm so thankful for Christian Fiction bringing me the same type of story with a Christian element to it. I got just as much action and suspense but none of the gore or cursing or sex. It's going to be a while before I stop thinking about Kate and Luke. They are just such a great pair. I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher. This is my honest review.

This is the conclusion to the Cheasepeake Valor Series, but I’m definitely going to have to pick up the other books in the series. This is one of those books that will make you question whether or not Kate and Luke will find their way back to each other and if Ebeid will ever be caught. If you enjoy suspense, then perhaps you’d enjoy this one. This can easily be read as a stand-alone, I did, but I did find myself confused for a while about who was who. With that being said, I would recommend starting from the very beginning before starting this one. Although none of the characters are actually related to each other, they have such a great chemistry and family dynamic. So many of the characters had backstories from the previous books that I wanted to learn more about as well. This was an excellent and well-done multidirectional plot. There were at least two different storylines happening within the one story. Declan and Luke are best friends who are both trying to bring justice to the world. Declan’s younger sister was kidnapped and killed and he is on a mission to find her killer to unravel an even bigger mystery than he ever imagined. Luke is back and weary after years of isolation and having observed first-hand some of the evilest situations the world has seen. Kate is weary to let herself open her heart to him again. Luke will do anything he can to get Kate to trust him again and longs for her forgiveness so that they can be together. Overall, I enjoyed this a lot. Easily a quick read. I read it in about a day so I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys a fun suspense series. Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book from the publisher for my honest review, which I have given. I was not required to write a positive review and have not been compensated for it in any way. All opinions expressed are my own.

I have been anticipating this book for so long! It's the final book in the Chesapeake Valor Series! I would recommend reading these books in order. They follow a group of friends and while each book is focused on one main character, each friend has story development in each one. The books are so intertwined that reading them in order is essential. I was so excited to finally get to Kate and Luke and reach some resolution for all these friends. I've enjoyed very much Dani Pettrey's books in these series! The characters are endearing and their care for each other tangible. I think the only thing that ends up being a pet peeve for me is that some topics are brought to deal with the inner struggles of the characters but they're dealt with too quickly; these books are honestly plot driven (which is totally fine to me!) but the inner turmoil seemed to forced and a bit "just put there" for how they're dealt with.
